Where Every Journey Begins

How to Choose the Right Destination

Our destinations span ancient monuments, natural landscapes, and extraordinary desert and coastal wilderness. The right starting point depends entirely on what draws you.

I

Ancient History & Archaeology

If ancient Egypt is your primary draw — the monuments, the history, the Egyptology — start with Cairo & Giza, then move south through Luxor and Abydos. These three destinations together cover the full sweep of pharaonic civilisation from the Old Kingdom to the New Kingdom.

Luxury & First-Time Egypt

First visit to Egypt and want to experience it at its finest? Cairo & Giza for the Pyramids, Luxor for the Valley of the Kings, and Aswan for the beauty of the Upper Nile. This combination covers Egypt's greatest monuments without overwhelming a first itinerary, and can be done beautifully in 10 to 12 days.

Adventure & Natural Landscapes

Egypt is far more than monuments. The Western Desert offers some of the most dramatic natural landscapes on earth — white rock formations, ancient oases, and vast silence. The Red Sea coast combines world-class diving and snorkelling with complete privacy. Both can be woven into a longer Egypt itinerary.

Spiritual & Mindful Travel

For travellers drawn to Egypt's sacred dimension — the temples as living spiritual spaces, the energy of the monuments in silence, the connection to something ancient. The King's Chamber at dawn, Philae at sunrise, and the Osireion at Abydos are among the most powerful sacred spaces. We design these with expert care.

Egypt & Beyond

For those who want to extend their journey beyond Egypt's borders. Petra in Jordan is the most natural companion — two of the ancient world's most extraordinary civilisations in a single trip, connected by private flight from Cairo. We manage the full logistics across both countries.

Our Approach

How We Cover Every Destination

We do not offer the same tour in different locations. Every destination requires different permits, different Ministry relationships, different local knowledge, and a different approach to timing and access. We have built that infrastructure in each destination we cover.

Whether you are spending two days in Cairo or two weeks across Egypt and Jordan, the standard is the same — private access where it is possible, specialist guides who know the site they are at, and a concierge team that manages every detail from the moment you arrive.

Government Permits

Every private access visit is backed by a formal permit from the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities or the relevant Jordanian authority. We handle the full application process.

Specialist Guides

We do not use a general guide across all destinations. Each site has a dedicated Egyptologist or specialist with academic knowledge specific to that location.

Before-Hours Timing

Wherever possible, we arrange entry before public opening hours — the single most significant factor in the quality of the experience at every destination we cover.

Full Concierge Coverage

Transfers, inter-city flights, restaurant reservations, and personal logistics — managed across every destination by one team and one point of contact.

We spent three weeks moving from Cairo to Luxor to Aswan to Abydos — each destination completely different and each one more extraordinary than the last. Eye on Egypt Travel made every visit feel like it had been arranged for us alone. Because it had.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit more than one destination in a single trip? +
Absolutely — combining destinations is one of our most popular arrangements. Cairo and Luxor in a single itinerary is the classic, but many guests extend to Aswan, add Abydos, or finish with Petra in Jordan. We design the itinerary around your available time and we manage all inter-city transfers and flights.
How long should I spend in each destination? +
For Cairo and Giza, two to three days allows time for the Pyramid complex, the Sphinx enclosure, and the Egyptian Museum without rushing. Luxor deserves three to four days minimum to do the East and West Banks justice. Aswan is two to three days, including a day trip to Abu Simbel. Abydos is typically a day trip from Luxor. Petra is best over two days. We advise on the right pacing when we receive your enquiry.
Can I visit Abydos as a day trip from Luxor? +
Yes — Abydos is typically arranged as a private day trip from Luxor, approximately a 2.5 hour drive each way in a private vehicle with your guide. We time the visit to arrive before the small number of other visitors who make the journey, and return to Luxor by early afternoon. It is a long day and entirely worth it.
Is Petra easy to combine with an Egypt itinerary? +
Yes — we arrange private flights from Cairo to Amman or Aqaba, then private ground transport to Petra. Most guests add three to four days in Jordan at the end of their Egypt journey. We manage the full logistics across both countries from a single point of contact.
Which destination is best for first-time Egypt visitors? +
Cairo and Giza for the immediate impact — nothing prepares you for standing at the base of the Great Pyramid for the first time. For those who want to go deeper into ancient Egypt on a first visit, we often recommend starting in Luxor where the concentration of monuments is extraordinary and the city is more manageable than Cairo.
What is the best time of year to visit each destination? +
October through April is the most comfortable period across all destinations — warm days, cool mornings, and ideal conditions for before-hours visits. Summer months are very hot but entirely manageable with early starts and proper planning. We operate year-round and factor seasonal conditions into every itinerary.
Can I customise which sites I visit within each destination? +
Completely. The highlights listed for each destination are starting points, not fixed itineraries. If there is a specific monument, a particular period of history, or an experience you have read about or dreamed of — tell us. We will tell you honestly what is possible and build the visit around what matters most to you.
