The Difference

Why Private Access Makes All the Difference H2

Egypt's greatest monuments attract thousands of visitors every day. Here is what that means in practice — and what changes when you hold a private access permit.

The Ordinary

Standard Visit

The Extraordinary

Private Access

Entry to the Monument

Queue outside the monument entrance for 30–90 minutes, often in direct sun. Entry depends on daily capacity limits which can be reached before you arrive.

Your vehicle arrives before the site opens. Your concierge is already at the gate with your permit. You walk in while the rest of the world is still asleep.

Inside the Monument

Share the monument with hundreds of other visitors. Inside the King's Chamber or a Valley of the Kings tomb, you have seconds before the next group enters.

The monument is yours. Stand inside the King's Chamber in complete silence. Spend twenty minutes inside a royal tomb. Take photographs without anyone walking into the frame.

Your Guide

One guide for 12–25 people. Questions get partial answers. The guide moves on when the majority is ready, not when you are.

Your private Egyptologist is there exclusively for your group. Ask every question. Linger in any room as long as you wish. The pace is yours from start to finish.

Exclusive Access

Some of Egypt's most extraordinary spaces — the Sphinx enclosure, the Osireion, certain royal tombs — are permanently closed to the public. You will never see them on a standard tour.

Through our formal relationship with Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities, we hold permits for spaces forbidden to all standard visitors — spaces that exist nowhere in any other operator's catalogue.

Find Your Experience

Who Are These Experiences For? H2

Our private access experiences attract a very specific kind of traveler. See if any of these resonate with you.

Celebrating a Special Moment H3

Best for anniversaries, milestone birthdays, honeymoons, and proposals. There is no more extraordinary setting in the world than standing alone inside the Great Pyramid with the person you love.

Archaeology & History Lovers H3

For those who want to go beyond the surface — accessing sites never opened to the general public, accompanied by Egyptologist guides who bring each monument's history to life in extraordinary depth.

Travelers Who Value Privacy H3

For those who want to step completely away from crowds and noise — experiencing Egypt's most iconic monuments in genuine solitude, without time pressure, without strangers, without the ordinary.

Spiritual & Mindful Travelers H3

For seekers who want to sit in meditation inside the King's Chamber, perform a ceremony at an ancient temple, or simply absorb the sacred energy of these sites in complete stillness and privacy.

Before You Go

Practical Information H2

Everything you need to know before your private access experience — timing, logistics, what to wear, and who these visits are suitable for.

Timing & Pickup H3

Most before-hours experiences begin between 5:00 and 6:00 AM — we arrange private vehicle pickup directly from your hotel. After-hours visits such as Luxor Temple typically begin after 9:00 PM when the public gates close. Your concierge will brief you fully the evening before your visit with exact timings, pickup details, and what to expect on arrival.

What to Wear & Bring H3

Wear comfortable, modest clothing — shoulders and knees covered is both respectful and required at most sites. Early morning desert temperatures can be surprisingly cool; bring a light layer. Closed-toe shoes with good grip are essential, particularly for the Great Pyramid interior and underground sites. Water and refreshments are provided. Photography is permitted at all sites we visit, including interiors where standard permits do not allow it.

Physical Requirements H3

Most private access experiences are accessible to visitors of all fitness levels. Some sites — particularly the Great Pyramid interior and underground spaces like the Osiris Shaft — involve steep, narrow passages and require a reasonable level of comfort with enclosed spaces and climbing. There is never time pressure; the pace is entirely yours. If you have specific mobility considerations, tell us when you enquire and we will tailor the visit accordingly.

Children & Families H3

Private access visits are excellent for families with older children who have a genuine interest in ancient history. The absence of crowds removes the stress and rushing that makes group tours difficult with children. For younger children, we recommend exterior experiences — the Giza Plateau at dawn, Philae by boat — rather than underground or interior visits. We will advise honestly on suitability when you enquire.

Best Time of Year H3

October through April offers the most comfortable temperatures for early morning visits — cool desert air at 5:00 AM is genuinely pleasant in winter. Summer months (June to August) are very hot even before dawn, though the reduced tourist numbers mean permit availability is often better. We operate year-round and can advise on the best timing for your specific experiences and interests.

Photography & Filming H3

Photography is fully permitted at all sites we visit, including interiors where standard public permits do not apply. Professional camera equipment, tripods, and video filming can all be arranged with advance notice — we include the relevant permits as part of your visit package. If you are a photographer or filmmaker and want to discuss specific requirements, please mention this when you enquire so we can plan accordingly.

The Process

How Private Access Works H2

Private access to Egypt's monuments is not available to the public. Here's exactly how we arrange your exclusive visit from start to finish.

I

Your Enquiry H3

Tell us which experience interests you, your preferred travel dates, and group size. Our concierge responds within 24 hours with availability and a tailored proposal.

II

Permit Application H3

We submit a formal permit application to the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities on your behalf. This process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks — which is why early booking is essential.

III

Permit Confirmed H3

Once your permit is approved, we lock in your access time, assign your private Egyptologist guide, and arrange all logistics — transport, timing, and concierge support.

IV

Your Private Visit H3

On the day, your luxury vehicle collects you from your hotel. Your guide accompanies you throughout. The monument is yours — no crowds, no time pressure, no limitations.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions H2

How do I get private access to Egypt's monuments? H3

+

Private access is arranged through special permits issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. These permits are available only through licensed operators with established government relationships. Eye on Egypt Travel holds these permits and handles the entire application process on your behalf.

Is private access to the Great Pyramid really possible? H3

+

Yes. Through our formal relationship with Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities, we can arrange exclusive before-hours entry to the Great Pyramid of Giza including the King's Chamber — before the site opens to the public each morning. This is a genuine government-permitted visit, not a standard group tour.

How far in advance should I book a private access visit? H3

+

We recommend booking 6–8 weeks in advance for most experiences. High-demand sites like the Great Pyramid and Valley of the Kings require 2–3 months during peak season (October to April). Contact us as early as possible and we will advise on current permit availability.

Can I combine multiple private access experiences? H3

+

Yes — many clients combine two or more. The Great Pyramid and Sphinx enclosure pair naturally in a single morning. Luxor Temple after hours and the Valley of the Kings before dawn can be arranged across consecutive days. We manage all permit applications simultaneously.

What is included in a private access visit? H3

+

Every visit includes all government permits, a private Egyptologist guide dedicated exclusively to your group, luxury hotel pickup and drop-off, and a dedicated Eye on Egypt concierge present on-site throughout. Photography permits are included where available.

How much does a private access experience in Egypt cost? H3

+

Pricing is tailored to each visit depending on the experience, group size, and access level required. We do not publish fixed rates — request a quote and we will respond within 24 hours with personalised pricing. All prices are per group, not per person.

Are private access visits suitable for children? H3

+

Private access works very well for families with older children who have a genuine interest in ancient history. The absence of crowds removes the stress of group tours. For younger children, we recommend exterior experiences — the Giza Plateau at dawn or Philae by boat — rather than interior or underground visits.

What is the difference between a private access visit and a standard Egypt tour? H3

+

A standard tour visits monuments during public opening hours alongside hundreds of other tourists. A private access visit — arranged through a formal government permit — takes place before the site opens, in complete solitude, with a private Egyptologist exclusively for your group and no time limit. Some spaces we visit are permanently closed to all standard visitors.
